Welcome to Hand in Hand in Africa
Hand in Hand in Africa, HIHIA, identifies and supports projects and programs throughout Southern Africa that are dedicated to treating and eradicating HIV/AIDS through education and awareness, medical attention, and hospice and orphan care. The projects and programs chosen by HIHIA are referred to as our "partners" in the fight against HIV/AIDS, and you can read all about them on our Partners page. These partners receive financial support, along with hands-on training from HIHIA volunteers, in the areas of Home based care, health care education, counseling and advocacy. Throughout Southern Africa, the stigma associated with HIV/AIDS impedes many people from seeking treatment or even getting tested for HIV. HIHIA seeks partners who are committed to overcoming the stigma through education and community support, so that Southern Africans will shed their fear and hopelessness in exchange for a future.
HIHIA's Board of Directors and volunteers travel to Southern Africa regularly to provide oversight, training and support to our partners. In addition, new entities that meet our goals and stringent financial requirements are identified and considered. HIHIA is dedicated to being a careful steward of resources, so you can be sure that your support and donations go as far as possible in saving the lives of men, women, and children in Southern Africa.
